Politics of Uttarakhand : Ticket politics in BJP, what is the suspense on the election of Harak Singh and Trivendra Rawat?

Dehradun. Who should be given ticket for all 70 assembly seats of Uttarakhand? For this, the meeting of the core group of BJP is going to be held from 11 am on Saturday and the meeting of the election committee is going to be held from 1 pm. A panel of 3 contenders from each seat will be prepared and the report will be sent to the Central Election Committee, from where the final seal will be taken on the name of the candidate. It is believed that BJP can release its first list of candidates between January 16 and 18. Meanwhile, suspense has increased regarding the election and assembly seat of former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Harak Singh Rawat, cabinet minister in the current Uttarakhand government.

While Pushkar Singh Dhami’s contesting from Khatima assembly seat is believed to be fixed this time too, suspense has become on the election of Trivendra Singh Rawat, who was the Chief Minister for the most four years in this tenure of the BJP government. Rawat represents the Doiwala seat, from where he won the elections thrice in 2002, 2007 and 2017 but the central leadership is confused about Rawat’s ticket this time as he was removed from the post of CM in the middle of his tenure. Not only this, many decisions of Rawat were also changed in Dhami and Tirath Singh government.

Will Harak Singh Rawat contest elections or not?
There is still speculation about the answer to this question, but it is believed that the BJP will not take the risk of buying Harak Singh’s dissatisfaction. In fact, Harak is demanding a ticket for his daughter-in-law Anukreethy and has given a statement earlier that he himself is not interested in contesting the elections. The second news was that he is planning a strategy to leave his Kotdwar seat and contest from some other seat. Overall, the BJP has a big challenge to decide a policy like ‘one family one ticket’.

‘I have only one wife and only one party’
Here, BJP MLA from Lansdowne Dilip Singh Rawat surprised everyone by saying that BJP is his party and he has no option of his party and seat just as he has no other option for a wife. In fact, discussions are going on in this seat also about Harak Singh and his family. Along with this, other contenders are also fighting for tickets from here.

Why are the tickets of more than a dozen MLAs going to be cut?
Amidst all this development, there is also a discussion that this time to control the anti-government wave, BJP is going to snatch the tickets of more than a dozen of its 57 MLAs. A BJP leader was quoted in a news as saying that the way the party changed its image by changing the Chief Minister, similarly this decision will also send a different message of the party among the voters.
