Rain and snowfall in Himachal: 46 people died in 12 days, 49 crore rupees also flown

Shimla. The rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh so far in the winter season has caused havoc. Within the last 12 days in the state, 46 people have lost their lives due to this rain and snowfall. Not only this, there has also been a loss of more than Rs 49 crore. The revenue department is engaged in assessing the loss.

Onkar Sharma, Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, said that due to snowfall and rain, most of these 46 deaths between January 1 and January 12 were due to road accidents and falls. The maximum death has occurred in Chamba district. There have been 12 deaths in Chamba, 6 in Bilaspur, 1 in Hamirpur, 1 in Kangra, 3 in Kullu, 5 in Mandi, 7 in Shimla, 5 in Sirmaur, 3 in Solan and 3 in Una district. He told that 73 people have been injured and 47 cattle have also died. He said that the department is assessing the damage and help is being given to the affected. This also includes road accidents.

In these 12 days in the state, 11 kutcha houses have been completely grounded, while 2 pucca houses, 34 kutcha houses have been damaged. Apart from this, 24 cowsheds have been damaged. Hundreds of roads are still closed in the state, many places are submerged in darkness and more than 100 drinking water schemes have been affected. The problems of most of the population in the high altitude places are not taking the name of diminishing at the moment.

The weather has been clear in the state for the last 3 days, but now there is a possibility of snowfall and rain again. According to the Meteorological Department, the Western Disturbance is going to be active again. On January 16 and 17, there is a possibility of rain and snow in the medium and high altitude areas.
