Patna. of Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan (Governor Fagu Chauhan) has approved the Bihar Municipality Amendment Ordinance on Thursday. After the approval of the Governor, after the implementation of the Bihar Municipality Amendment Ordinance 2022, transparency and accountability will be ensured in the works of urban development in the state. After the ordinance is issued, now the municipal law has been amended. Now this provision has been brought that candidates will not be able to contest elections on the symbol of any party in the municipality. Not only this, the candidates will not be allowed to use any party’s flag, banner or insignia during the election.
According to the information, mainly two sections of the municipal law have been amended. Along with this some new sections have also been added. Section 23{ 1} and section 25 have been replaced. Till now there was a provision in section 23{1} that the councilors would be able to choose the mayor and deputy mayor by majority in their first meeting. But, now after the amendment, the voters of the municipality area will directly choose themselves from the chief councilor to the mayor. At the same time, there was a provision to bring a no-confidence motion to one-third of the councilors against the mayor and deputy mayor in section 25, but now this provision has ended after the amendment.

There will be control on the horse-trading of councilors
After the amendment in the Municipal Act 2007, there will also be control over the horse-trading of ward councillors. Not only this, the arbitrariness of the ward councilors is also not going to work now. Complaints about the arbitrariness of the ward councilors were coming for a long time. To get both the posts from mayor to deputy mayor, a game of big money was going on, as well as a big strategy was also made in which all things were used.
