It is reported that such a large quantity of explosives has been recovered in Dhanoa Kalan. At present, the Special Task Force has started searching the area. In December last year, RDX was also recovered in Gurdaspur of the state. At the same time, in December itself, there was an incident of explosion in the court complex located in Ludhiana. Voting is to be held in Punjab for the assembly elections next month.

According to media reports, many officials including SSP Rakesh Kaul have reached the spot. The place where the explosive was recovered is located at a distance from the India-Pakistan border. At present, the search operation is going on and heavy security force is deployed at the spot. The police is continuously interrogating the suspects. In recent times, there have been many reports of explosives being recovered in Punjab.

According to a December report in Bhasha, one kilogram of RDX explosive was recovered from a man in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Police said that Orapi has been identified as Sukhwinder, a resident of Amritsar. He was arrested from Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district on Sunday and a pistol was also recovered from him, police said. Police said that during interrogation he told about the explosive and then one kilogram of RDX was recovered.

The then DGP Iqbalpreet Singh Sahota had told that during the investigation at T-point near Salempur Araiyan village of the district on Thursday, Gurdaspur Sadar police station in-charge found a suspicious sack in the bushes on the roadside. Sahota said that on investigation he found grenades and a tiffin bomb.

Sahota said that keeping in view the recent recovery of RDX, grenades and pistols from the border district, ‘nakas’ have been set up by the Thanedars in the entire district under the supervision of gazetted officers. The DGP said Punjab Police, especially the Border District Police Force, are on high alert and the operation is being carried out while on duty at night on the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. In a statement, he said that several officers of the rank of ADGP have been directed to specially monitor the border districts.
