FDI equity rises 62 per cent, foreign investment of US$ 27.37 billion

New Delhi. FDI investment in the country has increased by 62 per cent as a result of measures taken by the government on the front of FDI policy reforms, ease of investment and ease of doing business.
During the first four months of FY 2021-22, India has received FDI of US$ 27.37 billion which is 62 per cent higher than the corresponding period of FY 2020-21 (US$ 16.92 billion).
FDI equity inflows grew by 112 per cent in the first four months of FY 2021-22 (US$ 20.42 billion) as compared to the corresponding period last year (US$ 9.61 billion). The ‘automobile industry’ has emerged as the top sector during the first four months of the financial year 2021-22. Its contribution to total FDI equity has been 23 per cent, followed by computer software and hardware (18 per cent) and services sector (10 per cent).

PMGKAY Phase-4: Andaman and Nicobar left everyone behind in food grain lifting, Orissa at number two

New Delhi. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) Phase-IV, the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar has left behind all the states in the country in the lifting of food grains. While Orissa is at number two and Meghalaya-Tripura is at number three.
The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar has lifted 93 percent of the foodgrains allocated under PMGKAY-4 (July, 2021-15 September, 2021). While Odisha is at number two with 92 percent.
Tripura-Meghalaya is at number three with 73 percent offtake. On the other hand, Telangana, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have made it to the fourth position by lifting 71 per cent of foodgrains.
During the fourth phase of PMGKAY that began in July, 2021, 56.53 per cent of food grains have been lifted in the country till September 15, 2021. The fourth phase will end in November, 2021. The highest lifting of 98.41 percent has been done in Phase 3.
Government of India has so far allocated about 600 LMT of food grains under PMGKAY in all the four phases. Against the total allocation under all the phases of this scheme, 82.76 percent food grains have been lifted till 15th September, 2021.

His Excellency met the newly appointed ambassadors of five countries in India

New Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday participated in a virtual meeting with the ambassadors appointed to India from four countries. The Ambassadors/High Commissioners of Iceland, Republic of Gambia, Spain, Brunei Darussalam and Sri Lanka introduced themselves at the meeting.

The President congratulated the ambassadors on their appointment and wished them a successful tenure in India. He said that India enjoys close ties with all the countries it represents and shares a common vision of peace and prosperity.
At the virtual conference, the President received introductions from Ambassador of Iceland Gudney Bragson, High Commissioner to the Republic of Gambia Mustafa Jawara, Ambassador of Spain Jose María Ridao Dominguez, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam Dato Alayhuddin Mohamed Taha, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Ashok Milinda Moragoda.

INS Tabar deployed for patrolling in the Gulf of Aden

INS Tabar also participated in the 325th anniversary celebrations of the Russian Navy at St Petersburg, Russia, with Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff also attending the event.
After the successful completion of this operational deployment, INS Tabar is now deployed for patrolling in the Gulf of Aden and the Persian Gulf.
Commanded by Captain Mahesh Mangipudi, INS Tabar is a stealth frigate and has a crew of 300 personnel. Belonging to the Western Fleet, she previously participated in counter-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden.
