Airforce Day 2021: The Indian Air Force is celebrating its 89th Raising Day on Friday. On this occasion, the brave soldiers of the Indian Air Force show tremendous feats in the sky. Three units of the Indian Air Force will be given the Chief of Air Staff Unit Citation on the occasion. This includes 47 squadrons who conducted Balakot air strikes after 26 February 2019 and operated at high altitudes in Ladakh sector against Chinese conspiracies since April-May last year.

A citation will also be given to 2255 Squadron deployed for Air Defense in Ladakh, Kashmir, which are equipped with OSA-AK-M, Surface to Air Guided Weapon. In June 2020, this squadron was sent to Ladakh for air defense after a standoff with China in the Galvan Valley.

The 116 Helicopter Unit equipped with Ultra Light Helicopters (ALH) Rudra has also been awarded the Chief of Air Staff Unit Commendation for operations against slow flying aircraft in the aftermath of the Balakot air strikes along the Pakistan border and the Northern Territory.
