UPPSC LT Grade Teacher Bharti: The appointment of 90 LT grade art teachers selected by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission for state schools has once again been mired in controversy. The Secondary Education Department has sent back the file related to the recommendation of the appointment of the selected candidates to the Commission.
The recruitment examination for 10768 posts of 15 subjects of LT grade was held on 29 July 2018. Of these, there were 470 (192 men’s and 278 women’s categories) posts of arts. For Arts subject, only Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) and B.Ed or Bachelor of Arts and B.Ed degree holders could apply. But a large number of such candidates also applied, who had done BFA but did not have a B.Ed degree. 90 such candidates were also selected in the written examination.
File sent back due to lack of clarity
Due to not fulfilling the qualification, the commission did not send their recommendation. When these candidates created pressure, the commission sought advice from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). NCTE clarified that in Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalayas, only those with BFA are also considered eligible. On the advice of NCTE, the commission had sent the recommendation of these 90 candidates to the Department of Secondary Education. The Directorate of Education had sought guidelines related to eligibility from the government. But the department has sent the files back to the commission as the situation is not clear from the government.
