Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi has recently made it clear that he is staying away from politics. He has termed the media reports as speculative saying that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has offered him a Rajya Sabha seat (Chiranjeevi news). Recently, Chiranjeevi met the Chief Minister in Amaravati to discuss the controversy over the price of cinema tickets in the state. Since then the speculation of his joining politics had intensified. However, he now denied that he was offered a Rajya Sabha seat.

66-year-old Chiranjeevi recently made a tweet on his official social account, on which there has been a flood of reactions. He has written in his post, ‘There are reports in a section of the media that he is being sent to Rajya Sabha, which are completely baseless or say a rumour. He has appealed to the media not to publish such speculative news and put a complete stop to this discussion. Chiranjeevi further told that he had met the Chief Minister to discuss matters related to the film industry and not to become a politician.

Chiranjeevi gets Vijay Deverakonda’s support

Liger star Vijay Deverakonda’s tweet came on this of Chiranjeevi. He came out in support of the megastar and tweeted, ‘I have full support. #GiveNewsNotViews..’ Let us tell you that Chiranjeevi had met him at his official residence on the invitation of the Chief Minister and his lunch meeting lasted for one and a half hours. After the meeting, he told the media that Jagan Mohan Reddy has responded positively to the issues raised by him on behalf of the film industry, exhibitors and theater owners. Describing the meeting as fruitful, Chiranjeevi hoped that the CM understood the issue raised by him and all the problems would be resolved soon. Chiranjeevi had said that the Chief Minister assured him that a mutually acceptable decision would be taken.

However, his party could win only 18 seats in the 294-member assembly. Later he merged the PRP with the Congress. In 2012, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha and made a minister in the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre. At the same time, after the partition of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Chiranjeevi said goodbye to politics and returned to films.
